Why 24VDC

The benefits of DC motor can be summarized by the following 3 key words:

Efficiency: DC motor is in general more efficient in converting input power to the output power, thus it generates higher power. Brushless DC motor employed in the low profile Power Moller 24 generates extreme high torque, compared with the same size AC motor. In addition, brushless DC motor has variable speed, dynamic brake functions as well.

Safe: Safety is one of the biggest concerns in facility. 24VDC is a safe low voltage, that is free of electrical hazard. Thus, no authorized electrician is required for conveyor installation and wiring. 24VDC is also a common voltage, that can be standardized in the facilities throughout the world.

Intelligence: 24VDC motorization allows the direct connectivity to PC for highly advanced material handling and sophisticated control, including tote detection for automated sorting and tracking through bar code reader. Driver card for the Power Moller 24 has self diagnosis function, discharging a error signal for central monitor in case of jam in conveyor line, causing motor overload. With this error notification, hazard in the conveyor line can be quickly removed to minimize the down time. The new generation driver card has a possibility of network communication.

In addition, DC motorized conveyor provides the following benefits:

Safe: no electrical or mechanical hazard (chain, sprocket)

Quiet: Power Moller 24's operational noise level is 58dB or less, and the global noise of the DC motorized conveyor can be as low as 62dB.

Space saving: no bulky external motor occupying a large space.

Minimum downtime: less wearing parts and easy maintenance

Energy saving: "Run on demand" decentralized conveyor motorization can save energy from 30% to 70% for conventional conveyors that operate continuously.

Modularity: Typically in 24VDC motorized conveyor, one Power Moller 24 slaves up to 9 idler rollers to form one motorized zone, and one conveyor module consists of 4-6 motorized zones, using 3 to 4.5 meter section. Thus, configuration and reconfiguration can be quite easily and quickly done on "plug & play", and significantly save the installation time and associated cost.
